Kadi is a popular dish in Indian
cuisine made with yogurt and gram flour as the main ingredients. Here's a
recipe for Kadi that you can try:
- 1 cup of yogurt
- 2 tablespoons of gram flour (besan)
- 2 cups of water
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon of red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon of oil
- 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds
- 2-3 dried red chilies
- A pinch of asafoetida
- Curry leaves
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the yogurt, gram flour, water, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt to make a smooth batter. Keep aside.
- Heat the oil in a deep pan or kadhai over medium heat.
- Add the cumin seeds, mustard seeds, dried red chilies, asafoetida, and curry leaves. Fry for a minute until fragrant.
- Pour the yogurt mixture into the pan and stir well.
- Cook the kadi on low to medium heat for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent the yogurt from curdling.
